Back in 2006 while excavating the site of Gath, archaeologists found a pot shard with a name very similar to Goliath. Gath was a big city, about 100 acres in size, probably 10,000 to 20,000 people lived in the city during Goliath’s day.

There have been giant spear points found in Canaan, at Megiddo and Kfar Monash from bronze age (Abraham to Moses era). These are up to 26 inches long and weigh 5 lbs. — six times heavier than normal–the whole spear probably weighed 20 lbs. May have been used by the Anakim, or Rephaim. The Egyptians mention Canaanites 5 cubits tall, about 8 -9 feet, who inhabited the valley of Megiddo in the 13th century B.C. (Papyrus Anastasi I).

The size of Goliath’s armor, and spear indicate a man 8 to 10 feet tall probably weighing over six hundred pounds. A monster.

God is so Good. My dream is to go to Jerusalem and walk where Jesus walked and performed miracles. I have a Jewish cancer doctor who goes once of year and brings back small rocks from there for his faith based patients. This year he brought a sandstone from the Sea Of Gallilee and gave it to me. It was in the shape of a heart. I gave it to my nephew because he needed it more than I did. Thank you for writing this.
